About Us
Our Focus
Our Commitment to Animal Care and Responsible Adoption
At Haven Tail Rescue Home, our mission is to help puppies and kittens find loving, responsible, and permanent homes. We believe every animal deserves compassion, proper care, and the opportunity to thrive in a safe and supportive environment. We welcome families interested in adopting German Shepherds, Dachshunds, Shih Tzus, Maine Coons, Ragdolls, and other available companions.
Our approach to rescue and rehoming focuses on understanding each animal’s individual personality, health needs, physical characteristics, and social behavior. By learning about every animal in our care, we aim to help prospective adopters make informed decisions and find companions that fit their lifestyles.
1. Temperament and Personality
Gentle and Affectionate Nature
Every animal has a unique personality. We take time to understand the temperament of each puppy and kitten in our care, paying attention to how they respond to people, unfamiliar surroundings, handling, and everyday activities.
Our goal is to help adopters find companions whose personalities and needs suit their households. We also encourage families with children or other pets to discuss their circumstances with us so we can help identify an appropriate match.
Loyalty and Companionship
Different breeds have different characteristics. German Shepherds are often known for their intelligence and loyalty, while Dachshunds and Shih Tzus can offer lively, devoted companionship. Maine Coons and Ragdolls are often appreciated for their sociable and affectionate personalities.
However, every animal is an individual, and breed characteristics do not guarantee a particular temperament. We encourage prospective adopters to learn about each animal’s observed behavior and individual needs before adoption.
Playfulness and Curiosity
Play is an important part of healthy development, especially for young puppies and kittens. We encourage safe exploration, age-appropriate toys, and positive interactions to help the animals in our care build confidence and become familiar with their surroundings.
2. Health and Well-Being
Veterinary Care and Health Assessments
The health and welfare of our animals are important priorities. We encourage appropriate veterinary assessments to evaluate each animal’s condition, monitor development, and identify any concerns that may require attention.
Depending on the animal’s individual circumstances and available veterinary records, relevant health considerations may include:
-
German Shepherds: Hip and elbow dysplasia and degenerative myelopathy.
-
Dachshunds: Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) and spinal health.
-
Shih Tzus: Eye conditions, breathing difficulties, and patellar luxation.
-
Maine Coons: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and hip dysplasia.
-
Ragdolls: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and other breed-associated health concerns.
These are potential breed-related concerns, not conditions that every animal will develop. We encourage adopters to discuss relevant health questions with a veterinarian.
Everyday Health and Preventive Care
We strive to provide a clean, comfortable environment, appropriate nutrition, fresh water, and attentive daily care.
Depending on each animal’s age and veterinary recommendations, care may include:
-
Veterinary examinations and follow-up care.
-
Age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming.
-
Nutritious food suited to
